Marco Almera is carving a niche for himself in the underground art movement as one of its most prolific and talented members.
Growing up, Marco soaked up all the sub-culture that Southern California had to offer: music, surf, skate and religion. This eclectic collection of magery has always been present in his artwork.
An avid student of art, Almera became interested in every aspect of production from composition to printing. It wasnt long before he began to take up airbrushing applying the technique on everything from shirts to cars. It was his Native American inspired airbrush work that first won him some acclaim at Indian Pow-Wows and music festivals. This lead to Almeras art being licensed by rock groups and soon after he was painting album covers for such bands as Sublime, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Primus, Ween, Reverend Horton Heat and more.
More recently the multi-faceted Almera has been producing rock concert posters and commissioned paintings. In 1999 his gallery career really took off with shows at The Huntington Beach Art Center and his works were showcased in the San Francisco Rock Poster Revival. Another piece, "Tiki Dream" was included in The Leetag Tribute-Art Show" and this canvass now is in the collection of The Lord of Lowbrow, The Pizz.
The new millenium has found this talented artist very busy. Marco is spending more of his time these days concentrating on his fine art pieces; serigraphs and lithographs. Also, in addition to creating more album covers, Almera travelled to Germany for a very successful series of gallery shows in Hamburg and Berlin. Also, he was included in the Dia de Los Muertos Art and Music Especial in Los Angeles. Shows at La Luz de Jesus Gallery in Hollywood are also scheduled and he has also been creating specially commissioned art for some high profile projects with a client in Japan. He is also part of The W3 Artist Project, a co-op of artists that gives back to the art community..
Almeras work is also featured in the September/October 2001 Juxtapoz magazine.
Marco continues to create new original designs and Poster Pop is debuting new stickers by Almera shortly. Included will be a selection of his "Bond Girls", a new direction for Almera.
Poster Pop is proud to offer Marcos work, worldwide on stickers and tshirts.
